DOG BITE INJURIES

There are more than 60 million dogs in the U.S, and 40% of all U.S. households own one. For the most part, dogs and humans get along famously. However, there are 300,000 dog bites per year that require medical treatment, and most of the victims are children (60%). Unfortunately, some of the injuries can be quite severe and can include: rabies, lacerations, emotional trauma, fractures, head injuries and/or death.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

Over 4.7 million people are bitten each year in the United States.
Approximately 16 people die annually from dog attacks.
Most dog bite victims are children.
